PT IN ICU-EVIDENCE BASED PRACTICAL ASSESSMENT & REHABILITATION

Dr.Shailaja Patel, provided very valuable knowledge about physical assessment, functional assessment of the patient in Intensive Care Unit. Dr.Shailaja demonstrated various physiotherapy techniques such as positioning of the patient, discussed about various equipment require to assess and strengthen the respiratory muscles. Dr.Sweta Bhatia, the invited speaker discussed about various myths related to Ilio-tibial Band pathology and physiotherapy management of it. Dr.Sweta discussed about faulty biomechanics, poor muscular stability, poor footwear that is responsible for causing pain at lateral to the knee joint. Various research articles were shown by the speaker that suggests Ilio-Tibial band has no movement during running which suggests that chances of getting an injury is not at all possible. 130 participants attended the webinar with great enthusiasm of learning and knowing new concepts.

Shrimad Rajchandra college of Physiotherapy organised "21 days online Meditation programme" (Abundance Challenge Programme). Three online WhatsApp groups conducted by Dr. Rajal B. Sukhiyaji, who was programme co-ordinator. The groups: 1) Faculties of Uka Tarsadia University, 2) 2nd Semester BPT students of Shrimad Rajchandra college of Physiotherapy, 3) 2nd and 4th Semester MPT Students of Shrimad Rajchandra College of Physiotherapy. In this online programme, every morning by 7:40am IST, co-ordinator published a daily task + audio track and meditation in English. These all tasks were suggested by Dr. Deepak Chopra, Indian-born American author and alternative-medicine advocate. All participants must find the time (as challenging as it may be) to meet the task for themselves and the group as a whole. The purpose of this programme was, in quarantine period, to find yourself and do something for yourself. Throughout the programme all the participants were maintained group dignity and completed all the task daily. At the end of 21 days, all the participants were rewarded with "Appreciation Card" by Dr. Rajal B. Sukhiyaji, as a token of gift. "Prove yourself to yourself not others".

National Level Conference on "EVIDENCE BASED PRACTICE IN NON-SPECIFIC LOW BACK PAIN"

Two days National Conference on "Evidence Based Practice In Non-Specific Low Back Pain" was held at Shrimad Rajchandra College of Physiotherapy, UkaTarsadia University, Bardoli on 13th & 14th March, 2020

The conference was inaugurated by Dr.Anil Mishra, Director of SRCP and Dr.Yagna Shukla, MPT (Ortho), Ph D, Government Physiotherapy College , Ahmedabad . Dr. Gaurav Khandelwal, MS (Ortho), DNB (Ortho), MNAMS, FISS, FNB (Spine Surgery) Shalby Hospital, Surat, Dr.Yagna Shukla and Dr.Aditi Kulkarni, Director of Be Active Physiotherapist & Ergonomics clinic, Pune were the guest of honor for the inaugural session.

Dr.Anil Mishra extended his heartfelt gratitude to all the resource persons, participating researchers, students, and organizer for making this attempt of holding theNational Level Conference on "EVIDENCE BASED PRACTICE IN NON-SPECIFIC LOW BACK PAIN" at the department of Shrimad Rajchandra College of Physiotherapy, UkaTarsadia University, Bardoli.In the inaugural session Dr. Gaurav Khandelwal had delivered the session on "Surgical Assessment and Management of Low Back Pain". Also Dr.Yagna Shukla had delivered the session on "Evidence based practice on Low Back Pain" and Dr.Aditi Kulkarni had delivered the session on Ergonomics. In the scientific paper presentation, there were three categories from which 14 participated in Junior Paper Presentation, 7 participated Senior Paper Presentation and 8 participated in Poster presentation. More than 250 participants attended the conference. Total of 21 scientific papers on various topics and 8posters were presented by the authors and students od different colleges. More than 100 students participated in sports and cultural events.

On the second day Valedictory function was conducted in Manjula Hall. The Final results for Scientific session, Sports and Cultural teams were announced. Finally, the Organizing Secretary Dr. Snehal Patel gave vote of thanks and congratulated all the winning participants on their achievement.

STUDENTS OF SHRIMAD RAJCHANDRA COLLEGE OF PHYSIOTHERAPY PARTICIPATED IN PHYSIOGENIX-2020 ORGANISED BY M.B.GOHIL INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCE AND RESEARCH CENTER ON 15TH-16TH MARCH, 2020

Students of Shrimad Rajchandra College of Physiotherapy had participated enthusiastically & energetically in Physiogenix-2020. This conference had different sports and scientific events. Students of SRCP participated in various sports events such as volleyball, badminton, Table-Tennis, Carrom, Chess, Volleyball out of which SRCP stood 1st in Badminton, Table-Tennis, Carrom and Chess while became Runner-up in Volleyball.The conference also provided knowledge about the evidence based physiotherapy, recent advances in physiotherapy and decision making in providing the treatment. It was really great experience for students in terms of knowledge and extra-curricular activities.

Shrimad Rajchandra College of Physiotherapy had organised expert talk on 'IASTM: Concept of Soft Tissue Release' for 8TH, 6TH SEMESTER B.P.T. students as well as Master of Physiotherapy students. The keynote speaker was Dr. Jatin Patel, I/C PRINCIPAL, Vidhyadeep institute of physiotherapy, Anita, Kosamba.The expert talk covered anatomy, physiology of soft tissue, basic principles of IASTM technique, indications, precautions & contraindications for correction of soft tissues abnormalities. The core concept of expert talk was soft tissue injuries which affects joint pathomechanics and how to make functional movements pain free.

Different IASTM techniques were demonstrated for 3 stages of soft tissue injures: Scar, Adhesion and Fibrosis. Clinical application for the variouspathological conditions such as neck pain, osteoarthritis of knee, supraspinatus tendinitis, tennis elbow, etc. were demonstrated.It was a great learning experience for the students which will help them to improve their clinical skills.

Inter-College Tournament organized by Shrimad Rajchandra School of Sports Between 20th-28th January, 2020

Students of Shrimad Rajchandra College of Physiotherapy participated in Inter-College (Indoor & Outdoor) competition held in January, 2020. The competition includes 4 games - basketball, kabaddi, kho-kho and volleyball in boys and girls category. 40 Students including both boys & girls participants of SRCP enthusiastically & energetically participated in this tournament. In this tournament, team of Shrimad Rajchandra College of Physiotherapy became champion in basketball (girls) while runner-up in kabaddi (girls) and kho-kho (girls).

RANBHOOMI-THE ANNUAL SPORTS FEST 2020 CELEBRATED BY SHRIMAD RAJCHANDRA COLLEGE OF PHYSIOTHERAPY ON 7TH & 8TH FEBRUARY-2020

Shrimad Rajchandra College of Physiotherapy organized Annual sports days "Ranbhoomi-The Sports Fest 2020". It comprises of total 12 sports in boys & girls category that include all major Indoor & Outdoor games like Cricket, Volleyball, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Table tennis, 4*100m relay, 100m run, Shot put,Carom, Chess, Badminton, Tug of War. All the players were selected by the team captains in an auction held on 17th January, 2020. 4 teams were formed which were Grey Panthers, Black Storm, Wild Warriors and Asgardian Warriors. Each team was allotted 30 players in auction. All students & faculties of Shrimad Rajchandra College of Physiotherapy enthusiastically & energetically participated in various individual& team games. The sports fest was coordinated by Dr.Bhavik Jhaveri and Dr.Rajal Sukhiyaji. At the end of the competition the standings are:

Shrimad Rajchandra college of Physiotherapy organised Two days Hands on Workshop on "Mulligan Concept for Upper and Lower Quadrant" for 4th Year B.P.T. students on 24th-25th February, 2020. Dr.Bhavik Jhaveri, Assistant Professor, Shrimad Rajchandra College of Physiotherapy, was the instructor. In the Workshop, Dr.Bhavik Jhaveri covered basic principles, indications, precautions & contraindications and various techniques of Mulligan concept for correction of Joint pathomechanics.Hands on practical application of Mulligan concept for various painful conditions such as ankle sprain, osteoarthritis of knee & hip, supraspinatus tendinitis, tennis elbow, etc. was done. The workshop was mainly focused on the correction of pathomechanics and how to make functional movements pain free. All the students practiced and participated with great enthusiasm. It was a great learning experience for the students which we will help them to improve the treatment outcome. 92 students attended the workshop.

Report of "6thUth Festival" 12th Jan -14th Feb 2020

"Uth Fest" is a festival of knowledge and culture that links together different networks and reinforces the significance of Innovation and Interaction through various competitive events in the broad areas of music, art, theatre, literature, dance and fashion. It serves as a meeting place for creative minds to showcase their ideas and allow for testing of their ideas in the face of intense competition, rigorous evaluations and a touch of the carnival.

The events at "Uth Fest" are designed to inspire solutions in which technology, culture, humanitarianism and viability symbiotically coexist. It attempts to inspire creativity within the restrictions that are inevitable in any technological or cultural development.

This year's 6thUTh Fest was celebrated with the theme 'INDIA OF MY VISION', where more than 100 students of Shrimad Rajchandra College of physiotherapy participated in all the events and explored their talent in different domains of their interest and make the institute feel at the top of sky by achieving prizes at respective competitions in Uth fest.

We SRCP and UTU would congratulate all the winners and hope they always shine brighter and brighter as they go on.

Shrimad Rajchandra college of Physiotherapy organized expert talk on "Shoulder Hack" for 4th Year students of B.P.T. Two session were conducted by Dr. Rajal B. Sukhiyaji. During 1st session, anatomy & assessment of Shoulder joint were covered. During 2nd session, whole shoulder rehabilitation protocol with current concept were covered by Dr. Rajal B. Sukhiyaji. Students learnt various exercises, mobilization and new technique of Shoulder joint. Practical demonstration was also demonstrated to the students. 82 students participated in expert talk. Throughout the session various queries regarding the Shoulder joint were discussed between the instructor and students.

Shrimad Rajchandra college of Physiotherapy organized guest lecture on "Sujok Therapy" for 4th year BPT students., 1st and 2nd year students of M.P.T. on 18th December, 2019. Dr. Kulsum Wahedkalam, Physiotherapist, ISA certified Sujok therapist and lecturer, conducted lecturer on "Sujok Therapy". In the lecture, Dr. Kulsum covered introduction, basic principles, benefits, application, etc., of Sujok Therapy. Practical demonstration of the technique was also provided to the students. This therapy can be used for various conditions like back pain, neck pain, etc. Throughout the lecture various queries regarding the Sujok therapy were discussed between the instructor and students. 108 students with faculties attended the lecture. Dr. Rajal B. Sukhiyaji organized the event.

FACULTIES AND STUDENTS OF SHRIMAD RAJCHANDRA COLLEGE OF PHYSIOTHERAPY ATTENDED PHYSIO SUMMIT-2019 AT PARUL UNIVERSITY ON 6TH& 7TH DECEMBER, 2019

2 faculties and 38 students of Shrimad Rajchandra College of Physiotherapy had participated enthusiastically & energetically in Physio Summit-2019. This conference had different sports, cultural and scientific events. Faculties of SRCP presented their research paper in senior paper presentation category. Students of SRCP participated in various sports events such as volleyball, badminton, cricket, Tug of War out of which SRCP stood 1st in Badminton (Girls), 2nd in Cricket (Boys) and semi-finalist in Volleyball (boys), Tug of war (Girls). The conference also provided knowledge about the evidence based physiotherapy, recent advances in physiotherapy and decision making in providing the treatment. It was really great experience for students in terms of knowledge and extra-curricular activities.

Celebration of "World AIDS Day" on 2nd December-2019

First year students of Shrimad Rajchandra College of Physiotherapy participated in an expert talk delivered by Dr. Amrut Patel on 2nd December-2019 as a part of celebrating World AIDS Day. The speaker discussed about the role of awareness and understanding about the disease in communities. He also threw a light on how different community reacts in a different way towards the AIDS patient. The major focus was on how the society can help the patients suffering from AIDS. He told the audience about the treatment and care to be given to AIDS patient. In this expert talk 108 students and 5 faculties of SRCP enthusiastically participated to make this session successful.

Report of celebration of "World Stroke Day"

ShrimadRajchandra College of Physiotherapy, a constituent institute of UKA Tarsadia University has conductedlecture on "Awareness regarding Stroke" on 4th November, 2019 as a part of celebration of "World Stroke Day". In this seminar primary signs and symptoms of stroke were discussed and also first line treatment was taught to students. MPT students had enthusiastically participated to make this seminar successful.Dr. Khushboo Valodwala delivered &organized lecture for physiotherapy students.

Knee is one of the most vulnerable joint of the body. An expert talk was organized to bring some clinical outline and critical decision making while planning a rehabilitation for individuals with knee pathologies.

Dr. Niyati Desai gave a brief bird eye overview about the most common clinical conditions of knee joint. The session continued with Dr.Niyati demonstrating the evaluation methods and treatment techniques to all the students. An evidence-based treatment guideline was discussed for all major knee conditions.

In this session current treatment options were demonstrated and practiced. Prevention of recurrence and sports specific rehabilitation discussed. Total 80 students of 7th semester, BPT attended the session.

EXPERT TALK ON "POSTURAL REHABILITATION"

A Posture is the position of your body while doing any activities whether it's a static or dynamic. For better understanding of posture Shrimad Rajchandra College of Physiotherapy organized Expert session on postural rehabilitation for 3rd semester students.

Introduction of the posture was given by Dr.Sneha Sailor. She explained about the types of posture, basic elements of posture, pertubation, types of muscle synergies, about the kinetics and kinematics of posture.

She also discussed with the students about the deformity of the lower limb, upper limb, and chest and how they affect on body posture. She also talked about postural assessment, about the muscle imbalance, good & poor posture and after assessing the posture how they will plan rehabilitation programme for the patients through the practical demonstration.

Total 94 studentsof Semester 3 participated in this expert session.

SRCP celebrated Janmastami on 23rd August 2019

Krishna Janmashtami was celebrated with enthusiasm at Shrimad Rajchandara College of physiotherapy, which was organized by 7th semester students. All semester students participated with zeel in dahihandi function and class decoration on gokulasthami theme.Lord Krishna and his poor cowherd friends loved milk, curd and butter kept in high hung handis. Matki making,Artithali making competition was kept in which total 17 students participated. Group of girls and boys were thrilled to break this handi on the feet tapping musical background. The audience too enjoyed the show. Lively atmosphere of the day was enjoyed by the students and all the staff members.

Ganesh Mahotsav was celebrated at Shrimad Rajchandra College of Physiotherapy for five days.Students of SRCP did Ganesh Sthapana on 2nd September in gathering area. The Ganesh murti brought was completely eco-friendly, made up of pure soil. Every day, Aarti was performed at 8.30 am and 3.30 pm by students and faculties. On 6thSeptember 2019, Ganesh Visarjan was performed at SRCP. Entire Ganesh Mahotsav was arranged by students under guidance of faculty members.

NATIONAL SPORTS DAY CELEBRATION

As Our Hon'ble Prime Minister has launched "Fit India Movement" Programme, Shrimad Rajchandra college of Physiotherapy, UTU has celebrated National Sports day on 29th August 2019. In which, total 120 students and 15 staff participated in different activities like, Sports quiz, Agility task, Balance task and Circuit training. Programme was coordinated by Dr. Sneha Sailor and Dr. Bhavik Jhaveri. All the students learned different training protocol with enthusiasm and fun. At the end certificates were distributed to all the winners of the event.

Shrimad Rajchandra college of Physiotherapy organised two days Hands on Workshop on Basics of Pilates for 4thYear students of B.P.T., 1st and 2ndYear students of M.P.T. on 19th and 20th August, 2019. Dr. Rajal B. Sukhiyaji,Certified Pilates trainer, Assistant Professor of Shrimad Rajchandra College of Physiotherapy, was the instructor. In the Workshop, Dr. Rajal B. Sukhiyaji covered introduction, basic principles, benefits, etc., of Pilates exercises. Studentslearnt various exercises and technique of Pilates. Practical demonstration was also given to the students. Students felt the effects of Pilates exercises which are used for correcting posture, spinal alignment, back pain, neck pain, etc. Throughout the workshop various queries regarding the Pilates were discussed between the instructor and students. Total 100 students attended the workshop.

Dizziness is a vague term heard from many people around us. To reduce the confusion, an Expert talkwas organized on 'Vestibular Rehabilitation: Finding your Balance' by ShrimadRajchandra College of Physiotherapy.

Dr. Snehal Patel introduced the subject by explaining the anatomy and physiology of vestibular system. The session continued with Dr. Snehal demonstrating the evaluation methods and treatment techniques to all the students.

An additional session was inculcated, wherein a team from Neuroequilibrium Diagnositic center, Jaipur demonstrated all the diagnostic tools to the students.

In this talk different vestibular conditions were discussed with the students. All the precautions and contraindication were portrayed during the session. Total 91 final year & MPT students attended the talk.

EXPERT SESSION ON "NEURO DEVELOPMENTAL THERAPY" FOR 7TH SEMESTER STUDENTS BY SRCP

NDT is a therapy which can be used as rehabilitation of neurological disorders like stroke, cerebral palsy, delayed development etc. SRCP organized "Basics of NDT" expert session for students of 7th semester on 22and 23 July,2019. This session was conducted by Dr. Khushboo Valodwala, Assistant Professor as a part of extra curriculum activity. In this session principles of NDT, Normal Abnormal reflexes, human development and practical application of therapy was taught to students. 88 students enthusiastically participated in expert session and enjoyed a lot. The aim of the session was to aware the students about newer therapy so they can apply on patients and rehabilitate them.

World Hepatitis Day was celebrated with the students of ShrimadRajchandra College of Physiotherapy on July 28, 2019.

World Hepatitis Day was celebrated with the students of ShrimadRajchandra College of Physiotherapy on July 28, 2019. Dr. Chinmayee explained the introduction to Hepatitis Risk to the students in the spread of infection. Some basic information about Hepatitis A, B & C was also discussed. Dr. Chinmayee concluded the session by sharing quick tips on safeguarding everyone from hepatitis infection in the community. There were total 89 students who received this information.

SRCP faculties & students participated in "National Seminar on Anti-Doping, Sports Injuries and Orthopaedic Treatment in Sports" at AURO University on 13th-14th July, 2019

The students of Shrimad Rajchandra Physiotherapy College attended national seminar at AURO University on 13th and 14th July, 2019 along with 3 faculty members named Dr. Bhavik Jhaveri, Dr. Rajal Sukhiyaji and Dr. Sneha Sailor. The seminar was based on sharing the knowledge and spreading the awareness about how physical education, orthopaedic doctors and sports physiotherapist altogether can give fruitful outcomes in terms of better training and participation of players at competitive levels. 3 papers were presented by the faculty members of Shrimad Rajchandra College of Physiotherapy. Dr. Rajal Sukhiyaji was awarded with the best paper award. Students and faculties had a good platform of learning and exchanging the thoughts with the coaches, physical education teachers and orthopaedicians.

Shrimad Rajchandra college of Physiotherapy organised one day Hands on Workshop on Athletic Taping Techniques for 4th Year students of B.P.T. on 14th July, 2019. Dr.Bhavik Jhaveri, Assistant Professor, Shrimad Rajchandra College of Physiotherapy, was the instructor. In the Workshop, Dr.Bhavik Jhaveri covered basic principles, indication, precaution & contraindication of Athletic Taping. Students were also providedknowledge about various risk factors and the mechanism of injuries that occur to an athlete. Hands on practical application of Athletic Taping for various sports injuries such as ligament sprain, muscle strain and prophylactic taping in order to prevent any injury to the joint or soft tissues was done. Throughout the workshop various queries regarding the sports injuries and its prevention were discussed between the instructor and students. 92 students attended the workshop.

Report of "INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY CELEBRATION"

Shrimad Rajchandra College of Physiotherapy celebrated INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY on 21stJUNE, 2019 on Friday. The motive of this activity was to create awareness among students. This Programme started withintroduction to yoga Asana by Dr.Rajal Sukhiyaji(yoga trainer)which was followed by all the faculties and students.53 students of SRCP participated in this Programme. The event ended with realizing and rediscovering the benefits of doing yoga asana and great feeling of inner peace.The event was organized by Dr.Komal Patel and Dr. Falak Kanabar.

Shirmad Rajchandra College of physiotherapy, UTU arranged one day international seminar on "An Introduction to paediatric physiotherapy" in association with Asian Physiotherapy & Research Institute on 20th June, 2019.

The Speaker, Ronald De Jong, holds more than 35 years of clinical experience in paediatric physiotherapy & hydrotherapy. The seminar focused on following major points: 1) Scope and area of paediatric Physiotherapy and 2) Current advances and trends in paediatric physiotherapy. Ronald De Jong gave a bird eye view on major paediatric physiotherapy conditions including assessment and physiotherapy treatment. The session covered torticollis, scoliosis and Cerebral Palsy. Various case scenarios were discussed through videos and active interactions with participants. The seminar was informative and knowledge enhancing.

The seminar was coordinated by Dr. Niyati Desai, PT. 93 Students of BPT 7th semester and 3rd semester MPT and 6 faculties were benefited with the session.
