State level workshop on disaster management organized by Maniba Bhula Nursing College in association with Indian Red Cross society held at Uka Tarsadia University Bardoli, on 28th February 2015.
The inaugural function started with UTU Anthem. The chief guest of function was Dr. D.R. Shah, Provost, Uka Tarsadia University Bardoli, Mr. I. A. Kadiawala, president, TNAI Gujarat State Branch, Mr. Kiran Domadia Seceatary, TNAI Gujarat State Branch, Shri. Kiritbhai Patel, Secretary, BPKM, Bardoli, Shri. Bhagubhai Patel, President, BPKM, Bardoli were guest of honour. Dr. Mukesh Jagiwala, Secretary, Indian Red Cross society, Surat District Branch, Dr. Kishorkumar Rathod, Mr. Suresh Gami, Mr. Kamalkant Halvadia, Chairperson, Education Research Committee were Resource persons.
Ms. Indrawati Rao, Vice-Principal, MBNC, welcomed the guests and function inaugurated with lighted the lamp. Mrs. Chandramani B N, Principal, MBNC, delivered the significance of Disaster Management, Dr. D.R. Shah, Provost, UTU, Addressed gathering and encouraged the delegates. There were 600 Delegates participated in this workshop. Experts elaborated all domains of disaster and its management. All the sessions were informative and enlighten the knowledge and skills of delegates. Workshop was ended with vote of thanks.

Visits : 2014-15 Back
With an objective to visit educational campus, to know various facilities at University level and to explore various courses at Uka Tarsadia University, students of L.D. High School from Sachin visited Maliba Campus on Saturday, 13th December 2014.
Around 157 students accompanied by 7 teachers visited the Maliba Sankul from 10.30 am to 4.00 pm. The schedule of the program was as follows:
- Guests' & students' welcome with welcome drink at Shrimad Hall
- Welcome Address
- Presentation and Video of Uka Tarsadia University
- Campus Visit conducted by UTU faculty members (7 groups were created)
- Lunch - All students, teachers and guests
- Exploring campus - Visit at own leisure time
- Feedback and concluding session in Shrimad Hall
The visit concluded with an interaction and orientation session by Mr. Mulchand Sen and Dr. Pranav Shah who discussed about selection of course and college after 12th board exam.
Students appreciated the infrastructure, hospitality by management, the courses and the support of faculty members at UTU. The session ended with a vote of thanks.
Representatives of UTU, Dr. Prashant Joshi, Dr. Renu Chauhan and Mr. Mulchand Sen attended the Networking Event on 24th September 2014 at Hotel Marriot, Ahmedabad to interact with representatives of Canadian Universities and discuss about the possible partnership avenues.
Delegates from three Universities of Canada namely Memorial University, Saint Mary's University and University of Prince Edward Island were present at the event who briefed the audience about various opportunities for students to study in Canada as well as the possibilities of student and faculty exchange and joint research projects between the Indian and Canadian Universities. Representatives of other Universities of Gujarat were also present at the event. The event was coordinated by Mr. Mignesh Parekh, Founder & Chairman, The Kamma Incorporation. With the mission of international collaboration Dr. D.R. Shah, Hon. Provost, has deputed a team of three members from Uka Tarsadia University - Dr. Renu Chauhan, Dr. Prashant Joshi and Mr. Mulchand Sen to attend the 'Destination Adelaide Networking Event' to interact with the delegates from the South Australian Universities and Vocational Education institutions on Wednesday, 19 November 2014 at Hotel Hyatt, Vastrapur, Ahmedabad.
Various participating Universities from South Australia were: The University of Adelaide, Flinders University, The University of South Australia, The South Australian Institute of Business and Technology (SAIBT), Le Cordon Bleu, Bradford College, Eynesbury College and TAFE South Australia. The UTU team interacted with all Australian University representatives and explored various opportunities for international collaboration. Australian Universities were very positive in their approach looking to the profile and progress of Uka Tarsadia University. The representatives will visit UTU in near future and proceed further for international collaboration to have a symbiotic relationship.
Training & Placement: 2014-15 Back
Training & Placement Cell of Department of Management organized a Pre-placement, Group discussion and Interview for Marketing and HR students on 28th February, 2015. The whole procedure was carried out by Success Option - HR and Management Consultant from Surat. A total of 12 students from Marketing and HR appeared in Final Interview.
Ms. Aarti Kothari from HR was given final placement offer after clearing all three rounds of selection procedure. Annual package of Rs. 1,44,000/- has been offered to her.

Every year, 26th June is celebrated as International day against "Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking". To commemorate this day, the faculty& students of MBNC organized a health education& awareness campaign for patients of Shree Sardar Smarak Hospital, Bardoli. The event was graced by Dr. Gangaram Kantiya, Chief Medical Officer, Shree Sardar Smarak Hospital, Bardoli, Mrs. Jayalakshmi M, Principal, MBNC, Mrs. Indrawati Rao, Vice Principal, MBNC. Students of MBNC educated the public on various issues and ill-effects of Drugs and its impact on the family& society. Students also performed a Role Play to elaborate on thesocial and economic impact of drugs, tobacco and alcohol. Various remedial, curative and preventive measures to be adopted for saving such families were portrayed in the play. The programme ended with interactive sessions and discussions by the participants. The students & faculty actively participated in this event with a lot of enthusiasm. The hospital management appreciated the efforts made by students &expressed their gratitude.
It is a matter of joy for all Yoga Enthusiasts as the "INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY" got declared to be celebrated on 21 June by Government of India. It was a legendary event celebrated at Uka Tarsadia University Campus on 21st June 2015. All Directors of Institutes from UTU came together for the cause and joined proclamation for the INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY-2015. On this occassion, UTU organized a Yoga Celebration Event on Sunday at Srimad Hall of UTU. The event was participated by all UTU teaching, non-teaching faculty & students. Yoga activities included were practices of Loosening practices before performing Yoga, Yogasanas, Pranayama and Meditation which were led by Yoga Guru Shri Trushar Patel. Dr. D. R. Shah, Provost UTU, Shri Kiritbhai Patel, Secretary, BPKM, Shri Bhaggubhai Patel, President, BPKM presided over the event and marked their valuable presence. Booklets on yoga practices were distributed to all the participants.
The event was well co-ordinated by Mrs. Jayalakshmi , Principal, Maniba Bhula Nursing College, UTU with her team members Prof. Bharat Vaidya, Director, SRSS, UTU, Mr. Sunil Gamit, Asst Prof, SRSS, UTU, Ms. Poonam Mittal, Directos, BVPIBMC & IT, UTU, Dr. Bankim Patel, Director, SRIMCA, UTU. The event began with the introductory speech by Prof. Bharat Vaidya, Director, Sri Rajchandra School of Sports, UTU. Dr. D R Shah in his speech emphasized the need of Yoga practice by all students & faculty to cultivate a healthy and holistic lifestyle. Shri Kiritbhai Patel expressed that it is the felt need to aspire and bear the torch of Yoga which brings bliss and opens the 'third eye' of discrimination to all. Shri Bhaggubhai Patel in his presidential speech stressed upon the necessity to adopt eternal 'Yoga Marga' in our fast pacing life which brings Peace, Harmony & Good Health. The event was ended with vote of thanks followed by National Anthem. The event had gained a great success and appreciation for the concerned effort made by the faculties of UTU.
C.G.Bhakta Institute of Biotechnology (CGBIBT), Uka Tarsadia University (UTU) supported the University of Ilorin (Unilorin), Nigeria to set-up a state-of-the-art Plant Tissue Culture Laboratory. Prof. Dr. R. Krishnamurthy, Director, CGBIBT- UTU visited the Unilorin from 2nd May to 28th May 2015 as visiting professor for developing joint venture Research Projects with M.Sc. and Ph.D. students of Plant Biology and Biochemistry Departments, and provided technological support to Unilorin to commission the Plant Tissue Culture Laboratory in its Central Research Laboratory building. Prof. Krishnamurthy who is the Principal Researcher in-charge of this laboratory will co-ordinate and supervise research students of Unilorin for conducting joint venture Tissue Culture Projects.
This is the first Tissue Culture Laboratory of Kwara state, Nigeria with modern infrastructure facility and is expected to benefit research students and local farmers to cultivate tissue culture plants like Banana, Yam and other cash crops.
A collaborative research project on Nigerian and Indian Accessions of Jowar (Sorghum bicolor) for Iron deficiency (Anti-Anaemic) has been finalized. Ms. Abidemi, Oreoluwa Moyosore (Biochemistry) is working for her Ph.D. in this project. Prof. Adnike T. Oladiji (Dept. of Biochemistry, Unilorin) and Prof. R. Krishnamurthy (CGBIBT, UTU) will jointly supervise the work as Nigerian and Indian collaborators. The progress is made as a part of MOU between Unilorin-UTU.

Annual Nutrition Programme 2015 was conducted by the First Year B.Sc. Nursing & First Year GNM students of Maniba Bhula Nursing College, UkaTarsadia University, as a part of their curriculum on 04-04-2015.
The objective of the programme was to increase nutrition knowledge and cooking skills for preparing balanced and therapeutic diet among students. The students took active part in preparation of therapeutic diet and the different methods of cooking. The students prepared therapeutic diet such as Liquid Diet, Bland Diet, Soft Diet, Semi-Solid Diet, Diabetic Diet, Anti-hypertensive Diet, Iron rich Diet and Menu planning for various diseases according to calorie requirement of clients. Methods of preparation for therapeutic diet used by students were boiling, steaming, frying and baking.
The students were guided by their subject teacher Ms. AmitaChaudhary& Ms. NilamRathod. The programme was evaluated by Directors of various departments of UkaTarsadia University, Mrs. M.Jayalaxmi, Principal, MBNC, Mrs. Indrawati Rao, Vice-Principal, MBNC and other staff of MBNC.At the end all the Directors, Faculty tasted the various nutritious diet prepared by the students. The efforts of the students have been appreciated.
Maniba Bhula Nursing College conducted its Annual Sports and Cultural competitions from 27-01-2015 to 31-01-2015 with individual and group events for girls and boys.
Annual Sports Competitions were conducted from 27-01-2015 to 29-01-2015. The Sports events were 100 mts, 200 mts race, Relay, 3 leg race, Skipping, High Jump, Shot Put, Disc Throw, Javelin Throw, Volleyball, Cricket, Badminton, Kabaddi, Kho Kho, Carrom. All students of MBNC were divided into four groups such as Silver, Gold, Diamond & Platinum for cultural & sports events & competitions were held among these groups. The students participated in all events with enthusiasm.
Cultural competitions were conducted from 30-01-2015 to 31-01-2015 at J.D.Hall from 10 am to 5 pm. The Cultural events were Solo Song, Solo Dance, Group Song, Group Dance, Skit, Nail art, Mehendi, Fancy dress, Cartooning, Hair style, Fashion Show and comedy king for boys and girls.
Annual Day Celebration with prize distribution and Farewell of II Batch of G.N.M. students were held on 28-03-2015 from 10 am to 4 pm followed by cultural programmes at J.D. Auditorium. Dr. Gangaram Kantiya, CMO, Shree Sardar Smarak Hospital, Bardoli was the Chief Guest and Dr. D.R.Shah, Provost, UTU, and Shri Kiritbhai Patel, VP, UTU were the Guests of Honor and Mr. Bhagubhai Patel was the President of the function. The function was started with UTU anthem. Ms. Indrawati Rao, Vice-Principal, MBNC welcomed the guests & presented Annual report of academic year 2014-15. A total of 20 academic meritorious students were awarded, 60 prizes were given to winners of Cultural Competition, and 195 prizes were given to winners of Sports Competition. Some of the highlighted awards are as follows:

- 2. Best student nurse (male): Jani Bhaskarbhai Kantibhai.

- 7. Runner-up 2014: Silver Group.
Farewell for II Batch G.N.M students was given and they were presented with mementos. Chief Guest Dr.Gangaram Kantiya, addressed the gathering and encouraged student with his motivating words. Guests of Honor, Dr. D.R. Shah & Shri Kiritbhai Patel congratulated the winners and motivated the students with their inspirational words. Shri. Bhagubhai Patel delivered presidential address. The Celebration was concluded with National Anthem.
The faculty & students of ManibaBhulaNursing College, UkaTarsadia University celebrated World Cancer Day at Bharat Cancer Hospital, Surat on 4th February 2015. In view of this celebration, the students organized Poster Presentation, Mass Health Awareness Program and free pre- screening test for cancer. The patients and the public utilized this opportunity and over 1000 people underwent the screening test.
The students were ranked for their poster presentation. The first prize was awarded to 'Self Breast Examination'poster, second prize was won by'Cancer Prevention' and the third prize was given to 'Misconception towards Cancer.'
The students & faculty actively participated in this event with a lot of enthusiasm. The hospital management appreciated the marvelous efforts of students &expressed their gratitude.
Maniba Bhula Nursing College of Uka Tarsadia University organized a Lamp Lighting & Oath taking ceremony for the 7th Batch B.Sc. Nursing & 5th Batch GNM students on 20-12-2014, 5.00 pm at JD Hall, Maliba Campus, Bardoli. This ceremony welcomes students into the world of noblest profession that demands regular study, dedication, commitment and selfless devotion for their profession. The ceremony started with the UTU anthem. Mrs. Bharti Sanadia, Principal, GINERA, Ahmedabad, made her presence as Chief Guest. Mr. Purushottam G Koradia, CEO, BAPS Hospital, Surat, , Bardoli, Shri Kiritbhai Patel, Vice-President, UTU; Dr. D R Shah, Provost, UTU; Shri Bhagubhai Patel, President, BPKM, Bardoli & Mrs. Chandramani B N Principal, MBNC graced the occasion as guests of honour.
Mr. Sateesh Biradar, HOD, Psychiatric Dept, MBNC welcomed the guests. The august dignitaries initiated the function by lighting the Deepam. The significance of lamp lighting & oath taking ceremony was delivered by Mrs. Indrawati Rao. As a symbol of lighting the lamp, the Chief Guest of the function Mrs. Bharti Sanadia, Principal, GINERA & Mrs. Chandramani B N, Principal, MBNC lighted the Florence Nightingale lamp & transferred the luminosity to the nursing fraternity. Fifty B.Sc. Nursing students & 41 GNM students respectively dedicated themselves to the nursing profession by lighting their lamps & recited the Nightingale pledge.
The chief guest of the function Mrs. Bharti Sanadia congratulated all the students for choosing nursing as a profession & gave inspiration to the students. Guest of Honour Mr. Purushottam G Koradia guided the students to dedicate themselves for the care of the patients & society. Dr. D R Shah in his speech inspired the students to make their future as valuable as possible by doing hard work & studies. Shri Bhagubhai Patel delivered his presidential speech and extended his best wishes to the students. Cultural events by the students were organized as part of the function. The ceremony concluded with vote of thanks by Mrs. Sonal Pandya. The function ended with the national anthem.
MOU : 2014-15 Back
The fastest growing University of Gujarat - Uka Tarsadia University has added one more feather to its cap by signing a MoU with Cape Breton University, Canada. Mr. Brett MacLean - Manager International Recruitment, visited India to collaborate with Uka Tarsadia University. Mr. Brett delivered a presentation on Cape Breton University and various courses it offers. Mr. Mignesh Parekh and Mr. Prashant Ajmera oriented students for further study abroad. Dr. D.R. Shah - Hon. Provost, UTU, signed the MoU with Cape Breton University in presence of 400 students, faculty members, directors and management representatives on 25th November 2014. The focus is on providing opportunities to students and faculty members to have international exposure to enhance their learning horizon. Under this MoU both the Universities will explore the following possibilities in near future:
- Students exchange program
- Faculty exchange program
- Joint research
- Joint symposia, workshop, seminars, training programs, etc.
- Dual degree program
- Summer program
- Short term courses
- Full time courses and any other option agreed by both the Universities.

A third MoU was signed between UTU and LEO Lens Technology Inc., CA, USA on 21st August 2014 to collaborate on yet another joint research project involving in-vivo pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic studies of a new formulation. The MoU was signed by Mr. Praful Doshi, CEO, LEO Lens Technology Inc. and by Dr. Shailesh Shah on behalf of Maliba Pharmacy College. It was endorsed by Dr. Dinesh R. Shah, Provost, Uka Tarsadia University. The Principal Investigators are Mr. Furqan Maulvi and Dr. Bhavin Vyas; the co-investigators are Dr. Akshay Koli and Dr. Ketan Ranch. The team also includes Ms. Rutvi Vaidya, Research Scholar at UTU.
New ventures : 2014-15 Back
Uka Tarsadia University launched a new Physiotherapy Clinic on 7th November, 2014 at Sardar Smarak hospital, Bardoli with an objective to serve the community. The treatment for conditions like osteoarthritis, joint pain, paralysis, spondylosis, cerebral palsy, geriatrics condition, etc. will be given free of cost to the general public at this centre. The inauguration function was organised by the University Management, staff and students of Shrimad Rajchandra College of Physiotherapy. Shri Bhuladada and family have generously contributed to the cause. Sardar hospital Trust also participated in this program enthusiastically. The program started with prayers and welcome of guests followed by lightening the lamp.
