The word 'Yoga' means union with the Supreme power or God. God is the creator of all the living beings in this earth and it is Him whom we merge with at the end of our lives. Thousands of years ago, the Vedic people had started a physical practice for controlling the mind, body and soul. This physical practice is known as yoga. Yoga is the ancient art, science and philosophy of maintaining a balance between these three most important elements of a human being by synchronizing them in a single chord. Meditation or 'Dhyana' was also a part of ancient yoga practice. Meditation is the way of connecting to the God by developing a deeper level of consciousness. By meditating, an individual can communicate with the Almighty on the intra-personal level. Apart from its spiritual significance, yoga and meditation are also widely practiced for a healthy life. Myriad physical and mental benefits of yoga, make it a boon to the mankind. H.H. Shivkrupanand Swami has established number of meditation centers in different countries. Meditation Center is a place where meditators come together and meditate. Samarpan Meditation is a simple way of Meditation which connects us with Universal Consciousness. It is beyond the realm of religion and is practiced by peoples around the world. One such enlightening Samarpan Meditation Shibir was organized at Uka Tarsadia University at Maliba Campus on October 5, 2012. Samarpan Meditation is originated by His Holiness Shivkrupanand Swami, a living Divine Master from India. Samarpan means surrender(of negativity, of the ego and of thoughts of the past and the future) so that we may experience connection with the divine. When we surrender everything, forget our physical existence and identify ourselves as pure soul mind become still there are no thoughts we are in thoughtless state. All the students and the faculty members of the university participated in the batchwise shibir continued through out the day by Acharya Hinaben Lad and benefited by the technique propounded by Swami Shree Shivkrupanandji.
