Department of Physics, UTU celebrated World Health Day on 7th April 2022 from 12:45 PM onwards. The theme of the day was "Our Planet Our Health" leading to raise awareness about the overall health and well-being of people across the world. The event was organized by Dr. Kinjal Patel. Total 19 Students from Integrated M.Sc. Semester 2 and 8, M.Sc. Semester 2 actively participated in the program. Ms. Dhara Khristi, Ms. Harshangini Patel, Ms. Kirti Sharma, Mr. Anand Chaudhary and Mr. Yashkumar decorated the board in focusing the theme. Ms. Kirti Sharma, Ms. Payal Dubey, Ms. Payal Kayashth, Ms. Harshangini Patel, Ms.Hiral Dhodi, Mr. Yashumar and Mr. Rahul Patel give awareness about the Health and the environment on the day to students and faculty members.
The Department of Physics had organized a three day's workshop on ICT Tools during 30th March to 1st April, 2022. Mr. Vishva Jain has organized the workshop and 47 students of the Department of Physics have taken part in the workshop. Aim of the workshop was to enhance student’s skill in using different tools of representation work. Mr Sapan Naik from Babu Madhav Institute of Information Technology, UTU taught different tools like Canva, Inshot etc. These tools were used for formatting the video lectures, for making poster and PowerPoint presentations etc. and to help students in increasing their creativity in the learning process. Mr. Jignesh Sohaliya from Department of Mechanical Engineering, CGPIT, UTU gave information about the basic features of PowerPoint presentation which includes different shortcuts and tricks of making the presentation easy and effective. Dr. Jaymin Ray, Department of Physics, UTU gave information about GIF files creation and use of Doodle software. Such tools help students in presenting their work in different forms. Hands-on activities were performed on the last day of the workshop to test students' learning.
Department of Physics, UTU organized an expert lecture of Dr. Vipul Kheraj, Dean and Associate Professor from Department of Physics, Sardar Vallabhabhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT), Surat on March 25, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. He delivered lecture on "Semiconductor Lasers: The Small Wonders”. He explained fundamentals of semiconductor physics and LASER technology. He also explained about various types of LASER and its working along with importance of semiconductor LASER. His views on the topic have broadened the horizons of students’ knowledge and understanding. The lecture inspired students and also encourage them to perceive research in science. Students of Integrated M.Sc. Physics, M.Sc. Physics and faculty members attended the lecture. The lecture was coordinated by Dr. Kinjal Patel.
Students of Department of Physics and Chemistry visited the Bardoli Sugar Factory on 12 March 2022. Students from final year of Integrated M.Sc. Physics and Chemistry; M.Sc. Physics and Chemistry along with five faculty members (Dr. Kinjal Patel, Mrs. Rutu Patel, Dr. Ajit Joshi, Dr. Parth Naik and Dr.Nilesh Pandya) visited the factory. Staff members of the factory shows and explained the process of making sugar from sugarcane with minute details. We are thankful the team of Sugar factory for allowing us for visit and explaining every process in depth to the students and faculty members. We are especially thankful to Provost Sir, Dr. D. R. Shah sir and UTU management for giving the permission and bus facility for the visit.
Department of Physics organize the session on Women’s Health on the Women’s Day (8 March 2022). The session was scheduled in afternoon 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM. Dr. Anuradha Pathak (Deputy Registrar and Associate Professor from B. V. Patel Institute of Management) and Dr. Kinjal Patel (Assistant Professor, Department of Physics) guided students about healthy habits and motivated for future life endeavours. Total 26 Female students of M.Sc. Physics and Integrated M.Sc. Physics participated in the session.
Department of Physics, UTU celebrated National Science Day on 28 February 2022. As a part of celebration, Science quiz competition was organized by Mr. Hitesh V Rajput and Dr. Jenish Patel (Faculty member of Department of Physics). A brief introduction regarding science day was given by Dr. Abhitosh kedia (Head of Department of Physics) followed by two small Documentary on Dr. C.V. Raman and Indian Scientists and their inventions. In Quiz competition there were twelve groups (each group having three students) selected by random draw method. There were total of five rounds. After successful competition of the event all participated students given E- certificate and winner and runners up team awarded with prize. Team of Ms. Anjali Kayashth, Mr. Amit Devani and Mr. Meetkumar Vahiya won the competition. Team of Ms. Payal Kayashth, Ms. Priyanka Patel and Ms. Jaimini Patel secured second rank in the competition.
Department of Physics organized the visit at the Pahal Solar Manufacturing unit on 24 September. Total 31 students and 4 faculty members (Dr. Kinjal Patel, Dr. Jaymin Ray, Dr. Jenish Patel and Mr. Jignesh Jariwala) visited the Pahal Solar Manufacturing unit. They have observed the complete manufacturing process of the Solar Panel. Especially the automated contact preparation, in-situ quality check, assemble process of glass, back sheet, EVA sheet and solar cells fascinated the students. They also visited quality check process of panels during fabrication and post fabrication process. Dr. Kinjal Patel and Dr. Jaymin Ray coordinated the visit. As a part of Teachers Day celebration, Physics club, Department of Physics has organized power point presentation competition on "Great Indian Teachers who created History" on 3 rd September, 2021. Nine students from Integrated M.Sc. Physics and M.Sc. Physics participated and presented their view on the chosen personality from the listed name of persons whose contribution towards the nation is always been remembered. Rule and regulations are briefed out by coordinator Mr Vishva Jain and Hitesh Rajput. Dr. Mukesh Patel (Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics) and Mrs. Bhoomi Patel (Assistant Professor, SRIMCA- MBA) judged the presentation based on content, creativity and way of presentation. They had given their valuable suggestion at the end competition. Miss. Hiral Dhodi (Int. M.Sc.7 th Sem) and Miss Anita Lor (Int. M.Sc. 9th Sem) got first and second price respectively. The competition helps students in enhancing their confidence, ability of control over language and knowledge about the respective person's contribution to the nation.
Department of Physics, UTU celebrated Janmashtami on August 28, 2021. On this occasion, Rangoli, Aarti Thali, Matki decoration and Har making competitions were organized. Dr. Abhitosh Kedia, Dr. Jaymin Ray, Dr. Jenish Patel and Dr. Kinjal Patel coordinated the event. Students along with faculty members do worship of lord Krishna. Dr. Bhavika Tailor and Ms. Garima Kakkar judged the event. The winners of competitions are mentioned in the table.

Department of Physics, UTU organized an expert lecture of Professor I. B. Patel from P.G. Department of Physics, Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat on August 27, 2021 from 10.30 AM to 11:30 AM. Prof. I. B. Patel delivered lecture on "Crystal Growth and its Characterization Techniques". He explained various crystal growth techniques such as Solution growth, Czochralski method, Bridgman method etc. He also explained about characterization techniques such as XRD, EDAX, FTIR etc. His views on the topic have broadened the horizons of students' knowledge and understanding. The lecture inspired students and also encourage them to perceive research in science. Students of Integrated M.Sc. Physics, M.Sc. Physics and faculty members attended the lecture. The lecture was coordinated by Dr. Kinjal Patel.
Department of Physics celebrated World Photography Day on 19 August 2021. The day is to celebrate art, craft, science and history of photography. A photograph has ability to capture a place, an emotion, an experience, idea and a moment in time. Students from the Department have captured photo in the "Life at UTU" as event theme, and submitted it on 19 August 2021. The event was coordinated by Dr. Kinjal Patel, Assistant Professor at Department of Physics, UTU. The photos were judges by Dr. Mukesh Patel Assistant Professor at Department of Mathematics, UTU. The Ms. Shreya Gol secured first rank, and Ms. Hiral Dhodi secured second rank in the competition. All students captured beautiful images from the Uka Tarsadia University Campus. Department of Physics heartily congratulate all the participants for their active participation.
As a part of Independence Day celebration, Department of Physics has organized an Elocution Competition on "Fundamental Rights of Citizens" on August 16, 2021. Ten students from Integrated M.Sc. Physics and M.Sc. Physics participated and presented their view on the given topic. Rule and regulations are briefed out by coordinator Mr Vishva Jain and Jignesh Jariwala. Miss. Siddhi Shah (Assistant Professor, B.V. Patel institute of commerce) and Dr. Abhitosh Kedia (HOD, Department of Physics, and UTU) judge the speech based on content, clarity of speech and way of presentation. They had given their valuable suggestion at the end competition. Miss Pooja Patel (M.Sc. 3rd Sem) and Miss. Hiral Dhodi (Int. M.Sc. 7th Sem) got first and second price respectively. The competition helps students in enhancing their confidence, ability of control over language and knowledge of their fundamental rights.
Department of Physics has organized the online Quiz titled as “PHYSICS MASTERMIND” for the final year B.Sc. Physics/ Electronics students of all over India on 13/07/2021 at 10:00 AM onwards. The quiz was coordinated by Dr. Abhitosh Kedia and Dr. Jaymin Ray. There are 150+ students(61 Female and 90 male)registered for the quiz. The first position secured by Miss. Nisha Thalor from Adarsh Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Bhiwani. The second position secured by Miss. Kayasth Payal Naishadhkumar from Uka Tarsadia University, and the third position was secured by two students one is Miss Tandel Khushi Dalsukhbhai from B.K.M Science College, Valsad and other one is Mr. Ajay Kumar Verma from Career Point University, Kota.
Uka Tarsadia University has organized the MOCK test for GUJCET exam - 2021 on 10/07/2021 at 10:00 Am onwards. The exam was conducted in both languages English and Gujarati for both groups PCM and PCB (A and B). The event was coordinated by Dr. Jaymin Ray, Dr. Pramod Patil, Dr. Mihir Panchal and Dr. Urjita Sheth from the Department of Physics, Department of Chemistry, Mathematics and Biotechnology respectively. The key feathers of the quiz were (1) Mode of Exam was Online (2) 120 MCQs based on GUJCET format (3) No negative point for wrong answers (4) Papers designed by experienced JEE/NEET personals (5) E-certificate for all participants with score. There are 1050+ students registered for the online quiz. Amongst there 523 students were female and 554 students were male.
Physics Society, Department of Physics organized an awareness program on "Plastic free bag day" as a part of Social Awareness on 4 July 2021. Aim of the activity was to bring awareness regarding harmfulness of using single use plastics. Students were asked to use paper or cloth bags in their home or out and spreading the motto to reduce the use of plastics as much as possible. Students along with faculty member take pledge to use paper/cloth bags in daily life. Total 10 students participate in this program. Event was coordinated by Mr. Jignesh Jariwala and Mr. Vikas Patel.
