Department of Physics organized webinar on "Mass Loss from the Sun" on 10th May 2020. Dr. Wageesh Mishra from Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research, Germany is the eminent speaker for the webinar. This webinar aimed to introduce about the basics of nearest star of the earth i.e. The Sun. In addition to that the surface reaction of sun and its effect on the earth was discussed. Department of Physics organized an educational visit of students at Metallurgy Laboratory, Mechanical and Automobile Department, CGPIT, UTU as part of interdisciplinary activities on March 4, 2020. Total 27 students of M.Sc. Physics and Integrated M.Sc. Physics along with faculty member visited the laboratory. Mr. Harshit Desai, Faculty member at CGPIT demonstrated about Range calibration in V2 block and DAC calibration on 38 mm side drill hole block and thickness measurement in the laboratory.
Department of Physics along with Department of Chemistry and Mathematics, UTU celebrated Science day on February 28, 2020. On this occasion, competitions like Quiz, Treasure hunt were organized for the students. Physics students along with faculty members makes Exhibition and Selfie corner. As part of it, they prepared and demonstrated scientific model. Other Institutes and School students visited the Department and enlighten by science concepts understood via model demonstration. All students and visitors also enjoy to take photographs at selfie point.

Dr. Shree Mishra, Head and Assistant professor from the Department of Physics, UTU has delivered an invited lecture at GSBTM sponsored intensive crash course organized by NBT-CBC, CGBIBT-UTU on 19 February, 2020. She delivered talk on Mechanics in view to prepare the participants for Post Graduate Entrance Exams particularly JNU- CEEB, IIT JAM, IISc and other prestigious Universities.
Department of Physics organized an expert lecture series of Mr. Harshit Desai, Assistant Professor from CGPIT, UTU. Mr. Harshit Desai delivered expert lectures series on "NonDestructive Testing Methods: Magnetic Particle, Radiography and Ultrasonic Testing". Students of M.Sc. Physics semester 4 and Integrated M.Sc. Physics semester 10 attended the lectures. The aim was to enhanced the knowledge of Physics students and orient them about the industrial importance and linkage of Non-Destructive testing.
"Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn". With this thought, a team consist of Dr. Kinjal Patel and M.Sc. students from Department of Physics visited the two schools named, The Mandvi High School and Shree V.F. Chaudhari Secondary School on 6th and 7th February 2020 respectively to make the students of school in learning the class 12 Physics Practicals. A highlight of the visit was that selected experiments kits were made by the M.Sc. students under SSIP project. The students of the schools were benefited for getting the practice of experiments before their board exam and the students of M.Sc had felt the pleasure of teaching the students and solving their doubts. Overall, the visit was a very successful as the school management has asked for arranging such program for the students very often for other classes too.
Department of Physics has actively participated in Days celebration declared by university from 4 - 11 February, 2020. Students dressed in accordance with the day and made the department vibrant.
Sport days celebrated by Department of Physics along with Department of Chemistry and Department of Mathematics, UTU during 23-25 January, 2020. Mr. Sunil Gamit, Head of Shrimad Rajchandra School of Sports and the Sport Committee Coordinators Mr. Hitesh Rajput (Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, UTU), Mr. Mihir Panchal (Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics, UTU) and Dr. Anand Patel (Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, UTU) starts different tournament in respective ground for the young sportsmen. 50+ students participated in outdoor and indoor games like Cricket, Volleyball, Chess, Table Tennis, Badminton etc. Cricket was organized and played by using IPL format this year.

Dr. Jaymin Ray, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, UTU has delivered invited lecture on "Atomic and Molecular Physics" in the workshop. Dr. Kinjal Patel, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, UTU has delivered invited lecture on "Matrix and Probability" in the same workshop.
Dr. Kinjal Patel, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, UTU delivered an invited talk on "Fabrication of CZTS Thin Film Solar Cell using Chemical Method" at "International Conference on Smart Materials and Nanotechnology (ICSMN-2020) organized by Department of Engineerring Physics and Chemistry, SKN Sinhgad College of Engineering, Korti, Pandharpur, Maharashtra during January 2 - 4, 2020. Dr. Jaymin Ray, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, UTU also delivered an invited talk on "Influence of copper concentration on the structural properties of CuSbS2" in the conference. Mr. Vshva Jain, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, UTU has also presented research paper on "Study and Synthesis of spin coated Vanadium Pentoxide thin film" in the conference. Mr. Neel Patel, Mr. Prashant Patel, Mr. Swapnil Suryavanshi, Mr. Mahesh Marathe and Mr. Viren Patel; M.Sc. Students, Department of Physics did poster presentation in the same Conference.

Mr. Rasik Shah delivered expert lectures on "Numerical Methods and Applications". Students of M.Sc. Physics semester 1 and Integrated M.Sc. Physics semester 7 attended the lecture. Students got the knowledge of various uses of numerical methods in science and technology.

Dr. Bhavika Tailor delivered expert lectures on "Fundamentals of Fourier Transform". Students of M.Sc. Physics semester 1 and Integrated M.Sc. Physics semester 7 attended the lecture. The lecture motivated students.
Department of Physics organized Two-day Hands-on Workshop on Sensors using Arduino during 21-22 October 2019. Students of M.Sc. Physics Semester 1, Integrated M.Sc. Physics Semester 1 and 7 (Total 26) had actively participated in the workshop. The resource person for the workshop is Mr. Jay Doctor, owner of 123Projects.com, at Bardoli. They teach fundamentals of programming using basic logic of C++. He teaches basic of Arduino programming. Students had prepared hardware including series of LEDs, Sensors, PWM motor and servo motor. Further they program the hardware according to the individual logic. Students were actively involved throughout the activity and get motivated to understand the industry level programming.
Ms. Krupa Patel, Student of Department of Physics (DOP), Uka Tarsadia University (UTU) has presented her research paper at "2nd International Conference on Recent Trends in Environment and sustainable Development (RTESD-2019) organized by Vivekanand Global University, Jaipur, Rajasthan during October 17-19, 2019. She won 4th rank in poster presentation competetion at the conference. Ms. Aishwariya Sindhi, Ms. Priyanka Vasav, Ms. Sweety Patel, Ms. Priyanshi Patel, Ms. Purvi Chaudhari, Ms. Komal Dhimmar, Ms. Aashi Naik, Mr. Rajesh Swami, Mr. Aashish Tailor, Ms. Krupali Dobariya, Maitreyee Sali, Ms. Bhumika Parmar, Ms. Nidhi Ravat; Students, DOP, UTU have also presented their research paper in the same conference.
Department of Physics along with Department of Chemistry has jointly organized an awareness program on "Banned of Single Use Plastic" as a part of University Day Celebration-2019 on 14th October 2019. Aim of the activity was to bring awareness to about the disadvantages of using single use plastics. Students were asked to display banners containing the negatives effects of using plastics in their respective buses and spreading the motto to reduce the use of plastics as much as possible. The activity was by the students and for the students in bringing the awareness in society.
Department of Physics along with Department of Chemistry has jointly organized the Aarti Thali decoration competition on the Navli Navratri Theme on 23rd September 2019. Total 19 different groups of students have participated from both the department. The competition was meant for providing students platform to show their creativity and knowledge in religious tradition. Dr. Kinjal Patel and Mr. Dipen Desai judge the event. Ms. Twinkle Tilala and Mr. Yuvrajsinh Parmar got the first prize in the competition. Mr. Rajal Varma and Mr. Bhavesh Makvana got second prize in the competition. These two groups participated in the Aarti Thali competition organized by Social Activity Club of UTU on the same theme on 4th October 2019. 24 different groups of students have participated from different Institutes of University. Ms. Richa Vyas and Dr. Sonia Pandey judge the event. Out of all, Ms. Twinkle Tilala and Mr. Yuvrajsinh Parmar, Students from Department of Physics got the first prize in the competition. The program had a great success having different form of Aarti thali presented by the students.
Department of Physics organized power point presentation competition on "Basic Invention that Changed History" on September 16, 2019. Ten students from Integrated M.Sc. Physics and M.Sc. Physics participated and presented a wide range of topics. Dr. Paresh Patel (Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, and UTU) and Mr. Dharamraj Solanki (Assistant Professor, B.V. Patel institute, UTU) judge the presentation based on content and way of presentation. They give valuable suggestion at the end of event. Mr. Vivek Jhadav, Student, Integrated M.Sc. Sem 3 got first prize in the competition. Mr. Swapnil Suryavanshi, Student, M.Sc. Sem 3 got second price. The competition helps students in enhancing their presentation skills.
Department of Physics celebrated Teachers' day by organizing Technical model making competition on September 5, 2019. Students of Integrated M.Sc. Physics and M.Sc. Physics participated and demonstrated working models. Dr. Sutapa Roy (Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, UTU) judge the models. Miss. Vishwa Desai and Miss. Purvi Shukla got first price in model making competition. They prepared and demonstrated earth quake detector in the competition. Mr. Krutik Vanjara, Mr. Parth Chaudhari and Mr. Jay Patel got second price in the competition. Mr. Aneesh Tharakan, Mr. Kirtan Gupta and Mr. Vaibhav Patel got the third price in the competition. The competition helps students in enhancing their technical skills.
Department of Physics celebrated Teachers' day by organizing event "Enriching students for their brighter future" for the "Kasturba Gandhi Ashram Shala, Shahu" school students. M.Sc. Semester 3 and Integrated M.Sc. Semester 9 students along with Dr. Jaymin Ray (Assistant Professor, Department of Physics) visited the school on September 5, 2019. They teach fundamentals of science using basic experiments to the school students. Total four sessions on Energy harvesting, Education system, Health awareness and scientific games were organized for the students. School students were actively involved throughout the activity and get motivated to do further study.
Department of Physics along with Department of Mathematics, UTU celebrated Janmashtami on August 23, 2018. Students along with faculty members do worship of lord Krishna. On this occasion student prepared special decorated Thali and Matki decoration competition were organized. All students came in traditional dresses. The "Dahi Handi" event was also organized at end to mark the mischievous nature of Lord Krishna
Department of Physics organized Hands on training program on "Physics: Learn with Fun" during August 5-9, 2019 for students of Integrated M.Sc. Sem I and III students. Total 24 students actively participated in the program. During the program students learn about fundamentals of crystal structure formation using magnets, working of basic electronic and electrical components, model making and experiments regarding basic optics. The hands-on training enhances their knowledge in Physics and ability to work in group.
Department of Physics organized the One day National Seminar on Properties, Fabrication and Applications of Nanomaterials and Devices on 5th July 2019 sponsored by Gujarat Council of Science and Technology (GUJCOST), DST, Govt of Gujarat. The one-day seminar enlighten youth about the various fundamentals of nano-science its utilization for the fabrication of various biosensors and devices. The seminar covered the topics of renewable energy and biosensors from basic to the advance level. Faculty members, research scholars and students from various university/institutes such as S. V. National Institute of Technology, Surat, P. T. Science collage, B. P. Baria Collage, Navsari, B. K. M. Science Collage, Valsad, Shrimad Rajchandra Vidyapeeth, Dharampur, Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat, NTVS's G. T. Patil Arts, Commerce & science College, Nandurbar, V. S. Patel Collage of Arts and Science, Bilimora, Navyug science college etc. attended the seminar. Dr. Nitin Kale (Co-founder & Chief technology officer, Nanosniff Technology, Mumbai), Dr. Sanjay Ghosh (Department of Physics, North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon) and Mr. Kavish Shah (R&D Engineer, Waaree Energy Ltd, Surat) had delivered expert lectures in the seminar.
