UTU sponsored three days workshop was organized by Department of Physics on 'Hands on Training on Experimental Techniques and LATEX programming (ETPL-2017)' during 29-31 May, 2017. Nineteen Students had participated from the various institutes of Gujarat such as Sardar Patel University, Vallabh Vidyanagar; B. P. Baria Science Institute, Navsari; P. T. Sarvajanik College of Science, Surat; B K M Science College, Valsad. Inaugaration session was chaired by Chief guest Prof. P.K. Jha and Prof. Arun Pratap (Professor,The M. S. University of Baroda, Vadodara), Prof. K. R. Desai (Director, Department of Chemistry, UTU) and Dr. Shree Mishra (Course Coordinator, Department of Physics, UTU). Inauguration and Expert talks were delivered by chief guest Prof. P.K. Jha and Prof. Arun Pratap (The M. S. University of Baroda, Vadodara). Dr. Parth Joshi, Dr. Hardik Desai and Mrs. Priyanka Thakkar (Conveners of the workshop) had delivered a talk and carried out the hands on sessions in workshop. An Industrial Visit at Sahajanand Laser, Surat was also organized as part of the workshop to explore the practical implementation of lasers and optics.
Department of Physics organized, UTU sponsored, three days workshop on "Hands on training: Solar Photovoltaic and Nanotechnology" during 15-17 May, 2017, with the aim to elucidate the concept of Solar Photovoltaic and Nanotechnology. 32 students participated from different universities of all over the Gujarat such as The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara; Sardar Patel University, Vallabh Vidyanagar; B. P. Baria Science Institute, Navsari; P. T. Sarvajanik College of Science, Surat; BKM Science College, Valsad; Government Science College, Valod etc.. Inaugural function was chaired by Chief guest Dr. Chetan Panchal (Professor, Applied Physics Department, The M. S. University of Baroda, Vadodara), Dr. N. C. Shah (Director, CGPIT, UTU), Dr. Shree Mishra (Course Coordinator, Department of Physics, UTU), and Dr. Mukesh Patel (Course Coordinator, Department of Mathematics, UTU). Prof. Chetan Panchal had inaugurated workshop by delivering the motivational speech on the simplest and efficient use of solar energy. Dr. Abhitosh Kedia, Dr. Jaymin Ray and Dr. Kinjal Patel (Conveners of the workshop) had delivered a talk and carried out a Hands-on training to the student on the solar photovoltaic and the synthesis of Nanotechnology. To enlighten the actual fabrication of solar panels, an industrial visit at Waaree Energy, Ltd. (a leading manufacturer of Solar Panels of India), Surat was organized as part of workshop.
Department of Physics and Department of Mathematics jointly organized educational visit to Indian Space and Research Organization (ISRO), Ahmadabad on February 25, 2017. 67 students of Integrated M.Sc. Physics and Mathematics, M.Sc. Physics; along with five faculty members Dr. Kinjal Patel, Dr. Jaymin Ray, Mr. Jignesh Jariwala, Mr. Nikhil Choksi, Mr. Divyang Gor; visited ISRO and learn about evolution of Space Technology, Mars Mission, Chandrayan etc. Students got opportunity to discuss with eminent scientist about latest research and technologies used in Space Science.
Dr. Parth Joshi and Dr. Hardik Desai organized Educational visit to Department of Material Science and Department of Physics, Sardar Patel University (SPU), Vallabh Vidhyanagar on February 3, 2017. Miss. Aashi Naik, Miss. Khusboo Pal, Miss. Maitri Sali, Miss. Gohil Harshita, Miss. Ami Patel, Miss. Kesha Patel and Mr. Pratik Caudhari; Students of Integrated M.Sc. Physics, Department of Physics, Uka Tarsadia University along with Dr. Parth Joshi and Dr. Hardik Desai; UTU faculty members visited both departments. At Department of Physics, Prof. U.H. Patel (HOD, Dept. of Physics, SPU), Prof. G.K. Solanki and Mr. Chetan Zankat & Mr. Pratik Patania (Research Scholars) have explained the mechanism and usage of the various experimental units and optical microscopes. At Department of Material Science Prof. R.H. Patel (HOD, Dept. of Material Science, SPU) and Dr. Parth Joshi had explained about the working principle and functioning of sophisticated instruments.
Department of Physics organized Hands on training program on "Hands-on Tools on Basic Electronics Circuits and Safety Measurements" by Mr. Umang Wani, Assistant Professor, Government Polytechnic College, Vyara on October 22, 2016 at Department of Physics from 9:30 AM onwards. Total 50 students of Integrated M.Sc. Physics and M.Sc. Physics participated in the training program. Students made LED series and extension board in the program. Mr. Jatin and his group (students from sem-3 Int. M.Sc Physics) had explained and demonstrated working of Fan.
