Babu Madhav Institute of Information Technology organized Orientation Program 2015 for the upcoming batch of 5 years Integrated M.Sc. (IT), Date: 11th July, 2015

The "Orientation Program 2015" was arranged for three days i.e. from 9th July, 2015 to 11th July 2015. The program was initiated with a squat talk by Mr. Jitendra Nasriwala, program co- ordinator of BMIIT. He shared words of wisdom and emphasized on the importance of 5 years Integrated M.Sc. (IT) course and the job opportunities that will be available to them after the completion of their studies.

Day 1: Brief introduction of BMIIT and Uka Tarsadia University was given. Parents meet was arranged in which they were made aware of the rules and regulations, the same was also told to students as they have to follow during their journey of studies with BMIIT. Later on senior junior meet was held in order to make the new comers feel comfortable with their college mates in which different kinds of games were played by forming the combined teams of new buddies of M.Sc. (IT) and their seniors.

Day 2: Different games namely balloon game, what you got? ; passing the race and musical chair were played and campus visit was also there for the students and they had a lot of fun. Moreover, students were moved on to the library also for issuing their books of upcoming semester.

Day 3: An expert talk was given by Mr. Himanshu Joshi on ”Khud Se Muqabla”, the session was based on movie based learning in order to encourage and motivate the students. He elaborated on attitude towards life, profession and steps to reach success with smart work as well as hard work.

The event was concluded by wishing good luck to all the new budding computer science professionals.

Students of Babu Madhav Institute of Information Technology qualified foundation level in a Nutshell organized by International Testing Board (ITB), Date: 28th May, 2015

Students of 8th semester M.Sc. (IT) from Babu Madhav Institute of Information Technology appeared for the ISTQB foundation level exam in a Nutshell. The Foundation Level qualification is aimed at professionals who need to demonstrate practical knowledge of the fundamental concepts of software testing that includes people in roles such as test designers, test analysts, test engineers, test consultants, test managers, user acceptance testers and IT Professionals. It is also appropriate for anyone who needs a basic understanding of software testing, such as project managers, quality managers, software development managers, business analysts, IT directors and management consultants. Normally the exam is scheduled and conducted at centers allocated by ISTQB but it is our privilege that the exam was conducted in our premises and total 27 students appeared for the certification course and among them 18 were qualified.

Department of Computer Science & Technology, UTU organized "Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony" for the academic year 2014-2015 on 9th April, 2015

An Expert talk on "iOS Development by Objective C" was organised by Department of Computer Science & Technology. UTU; Date: 4th April, 2015

Department of Computer Science & Technology, UTU organised an expert talk on "iOS Development by Objective C" for second, third and fourth year students of 5 Years Integrated M.Sc.(IT). The session was conducted by Mr. Ankur Patel, he is working in Prostratme, surat and has 3 years of experience among which since 2 years he is working as an iOS developer. The session was comprised of overview of iOS, iOS development application, how and why to use Xcode and objectice C language. He had also given live demonstration of iOS application which helped our students to understand much effectively. At last recent trends in IT were discussed and students query were solved.

The vote of thanks was given by Mr. Sandip Delwadkar.

Students of 5 years Integrated M.Sc.(I.T),DCST are selected for final round of National Level Creativity Aptitude Test (NCAT-2015), at IIT, Delhi.

NCAT (National Creativity Aptitude Test) 2015 is organized by International forum for Excellence in higher education. DCST has conducted round 1 exam of NCAT on 11.02.2015. The NCAT is designed to sensitize the students to the domain of creative thinking and motivate them to read, learn and practice the same. The objective of NCAT is to assess the creativity quotient of a student and his/her level of motivation. Total 200 students from Faculty of Computer Science and Technology took part in it, out of which 65 students were from 5 years Integrated M.Sc.(I.T), DCST. Among these 65 students, it's our joyous moment to share that three students namely Ms. Khyati Dala from 2nd Semester, Ms. Jiya Rankwat from 4th semester and Mr. Vishwas Goyel from 6th semester are selected for final round. Qualified students will participate for final round at IIT Delhi in May, 2015.

"Soft Skill Development Lecture Series", organized by UTU for the 8th Semester Students of Department of Computer Science and Technology, (M.Sc. (I.T)), dated: 17th to 20th March 2015.

UTU has clear vision for soft communication skill development among the students which help them in building their professional career. To achieve this vision, UTU has organized "Soft Skill Development Lecture Series" for the 4th Year students of 5 Years Integrated M.Sc. (I.T), DCST from 17th March to 20th March, 2015.

Day 1: Ms. Trishna Makwana , Ms. Nipam Chauhan and Mr. Mulchand Sen were the experts who have delivered the lecture on importance of Communication in professional life, types of communication, importance of verbal and non-verbal communication in day to day life as well as in the professional career. Entire session was comprised of different interesting activities and students have enjoyed a lot.

Day 2: The expert for day 2 was Dr. Poonam Mittal, Director - B.V. Patel Institute of BMC & IT. She has given a lecture on "Confidence Building" which comprised of different activities, games, motivational videos. The session was interactive.

Day 3: Dr. Arpana Patel, Ms. Radhika Desai and Ms. Dhara Acharya were the skilled person for Professional Etiquette. The session was totally based on Office Etiquette, Telephonic Etiquette, Dinning Etiquettes and Do's and Don'ts while drafting a mail. Session was interactive and ended with Role Play activity based on telephonic etiquette.

Day 4: Ms. Divya Gadariya has given a lecture on importance of body-language in day to day as well as in professional life. Another skilled person was Mr. Nilay Panchal who has delivered a lecture on various tips for improving a body-language and Mr. Gautam Donga's lecture comprised of different activities and game for body-language.

Students have enjoyed this "Soft Skill Development Lecture Series", gained a lot and appreciate the efforts of Uka Tarsadia University for full-filling such a realistic vision of developing soft skill amongst the students.

International Women's Day Celebration - "Women Empowerment and Make it happen" by Department of Computer Science and Technology, (M.Sc. (I.T)), dated: 9th March 2015.

Women's Day is celebrated throughout the world on 8th March every year since 1909. Celebrating Women's Day is an opportunity to appreciate the remarkable contribution of women to our society. In different regions, the focus of the celebrations ranges from general celebration of respect, appreciation and love towards women to a celebration for women's economic, political and social achievements.

'Woman'- itself a symbol of selfless love, nurturing and caring attitude. A woman is much more than these words.

On 9th March, 2015, Department of Computer Science and Technology, (M.Sc. (I.T)) has organized International Women's Day Celebration. The theme of the celebration was "Women Empowerment and Make it happen". This celebration consisted of formal function and inspirational activities carried out by female faculties and students. The guest of honor were Dr. Renu Chauhan Madam (Registrar, UTU), Ms. Indravati Rao Madam (in-charge Principle, Nursing).

Dr. Renu Chauhan in her message laid the importance of women's like men or women all are having equal opportunity, so why women think that they are different from men. So the things man can do, women can also do. Mr. Jitendra Nasriwala had delivered the speech on Women's Empowrement.

In the first half of celebration of Women's Day at Department of Computer Science and Technology, the students came up with skits, mime, drama, dance and speeches on importance of women, saving girl child, fighting against injustice etc. In the second half of celebrations, we have screened a movie "Mary - Kom" based on the theme "Women Empowerment and Make it happen".

The event was a huge success for DCST (M.Sc. (I.T)), and it was not possible without co-operation of each and every people involved in it.

Expert session on 'Business Intelligence and Its Applications (Data Mining)' under Inter-Disciplinary Seminar Series, UTU on 9th March, 2015

Under the UTU initiative of Inter-Disciplinary Seminar Series, an expert talk on "Business Intelligence and Its Applications (Data Mining)" was delivered by Mr. Omprakash Chandrakar, Associate Professor, at Bardoli Campus [B.C.A (Hons.)] for the students of fourth year M.Sc. (IT) students on 9th March, 2015 at Shrimad Hall, UTU. The expert talk emphasized on details of Business Intelligence, importance of data mining, applications of data mining and its future prospects.

Department of Computer Science and Technology, UTU 5 Years Integrated M.Sc. (IT) ANNUAL SPORTS DAY CELEBRATIONS 2015

Annual Sports Day is an important event in students. The Sports day for the academic year 2014 -2015 was organized by Department of Computer Science and Technology, 5 Years Integrated M.Sc.(IT) on 23rd, 24th and 25th of February 2015. The three day sports daylight hours involved the enthusiastic participation of all the students. The students actively participated in both individual and group events. Individual events included Chess, Table Tennis, and Badminton for boys and girls. Group events included Cricket, Football, Volleyball, Carrom and Tug of War for both boys and girls. The faculty members also had a great relaxation time by participating along with students hand to hand.

M.Sc. (I.T), DCST wins the runner-up Overall Champion Trophy at UTh Fest - 2015

UTh Fest 2015, the first ever youth festival of UKa Tarsadia University, Bardoli was organized from February 12 to 14 with a lot of fanfare in the campus. The festival aimed at showcasing the inherent talent of the university students in extracurricular activities like literary, fine arts, music, dance and other creative areas. To give entrepreneur skills in students a boost, a funfair was also conducted alongside the events on all three days.

Out of 1887 entries from UTU, a total of 129 students participated from 5-Years Integrated M.Sc. (I.T) of DCST. Several students emerged as winners or runners-up in the various competitions. It is a matter of colossal pride and gratification to announce that Department of Computer Science and Technology (M.Sc. (I.T)) secured runner-up position as Overall Champion at the university UTh Fest 2015.

"Beats - 2015"-Annual Function organized by Department of Computer Science and Technology on 26th February 2015.

On 26th February 2015, students of 5 Years Integrated M.Sc. (I.T), Department of Computer Science and Technology (DCST) organized Annual Day "Beats - 2015".

The annual function began with a formal inauguration ceremony followed by cultural events. The guests of honor were Shri Bhagubhai Patel (President, BPKM), Mr. Arvindbhai Patel (Joint-Secretary, BPKM), Mr. Kiritbhai Patel (Vice-President, UTU) and Dr. Dinesh Shah (Provost, UTU). Besides these, other esteemed guests included the directors of various departments of UTU.

Dr. Dinesh Shah, in his address, emphasized the importance of cultural activities for holistic development of youth and conveyed his best wishes. Mr. Jitendra Nasriwala, Head of Department, briefed the audience about all activities that Department of Computer Science and Technology has conducted in the year 2014-2015.

The main highlight of this fun-filled occasion was to showcase the inherent talent of the students in extra-curricular activities like music, dance, drama and other creative/fun areas. A total of 60 students came up with their tremendous performances.

The event was a huge success for DCST (M.Sc. (I.T)), and it would not have been possible without the enthusiastic participation and co-operation of each and every teaching, non-teaching and student of the department.

Spectacular performance by students of M.Sc. (IT) from Department of Computer Science & Technology, UTU at 'Gyaney 2015'

Students from different universities and colleges participated in 'Gyaney 2015' which was organized by SRIMCA, UTU on 3rd February, 2015. Numerous competitions were held and among them total 18 winners were declared.

It is a moment of pride to announce that among 18 winners 6 students were winners from M. Sc. (IT), DCST, UTU for Logo making, Elocution, Code Arranging and Web Hunting.

Logo making contest provided an opportunity to showcase creativity and innovative ideas; Code Arranging tested the programming skills of the participants by brainstorming activity with bug finding, Web Hunting was a game to explore surfing and quick analytic skill of the participants.

Students of M.Sc. (IT) from Department of Computer Science & Technology rocks at 'TechDrishti 2015' at NICM, Gandhinagar on 4th February, 2015

Students of M.Sc. (IT) participated in TechDrishti 2015 held at NICM, Gandhinagar. TechDrishti 2015, a National Level Meet, is a technical vision for tomorrow held on 30th and 31st January, 2015. TechDrishti provided a platform to bring the technical brains together to interact, share, discuss and learn the latest happenings in the field of technology contributing to the knowledge pool. It was comprised of various technical events to uncover the participants' skill and hidden potential, increase confidence and knowledge amongst them. Students from diverse universities participated, among them students of Department of Computer Science & Technology from T.Y M.Sc.(IT) named Shah kunal Rajeshbhai and Chauhan Dhaval from S.Y M.Sc.(IT) won first prize in the National Level Technical Meet and made us free proud.

"Shining Star of Department of Computer Science & Technology" at pool campus drive interview by Tata Consultancy Services at UTU on 24th January, 2015

It is a matter of colossal proud and gratification to announce that student from T.Y M.Sc. (IT) named Mr. Vishal Nilesh Zaveri from Department of Computer Science & Technology, UTU got final placement by Tata Consultancy Services. Pool campus interview was held on 8th January, 2015 by Tata Consultancy Services in which total 155+ candidates attended pre placement talk, out of which 77 students appeared in online technical test. Finally 18 students were shortlisted among which 9 students from Department of Computer Science & Technology appeared for final interview at Gandhinagar and our student Vishal made us feel proud by getting final placement.

Five year Integrated M.Sc. (IT) from Department of Computer Science & Technology organized competition for extracurricular activities on 29th January, 2015 at UTU. Expert talk was arranged on 'Career & Success' by Faculty of Computer Science & Technology, UTU; Date: 17th Jan, 2015

An expert talk was organized on 'Career & Success' by FCST, UTU on 17th January, 2015. The speaker for the session was Mr. Manish Mali, Chairman & Managing Director at Sri Wisdom Life & Business Consultants Private Ltd. and Hope Line Inc. He is also a senior faculty & trainer at 'The Art of Living International Foundation'. Approximately 300+ students attended the expert talk, the session started by welcoming him with a splendid introduction given by Mr. Amish Patel, Assistant Professor, SRIMCA. The session was divided into two parts, in the first half he made the students understand the difference and importance of career and success in context of spirituality and life and the second half was an interactive session with students which helped the students to solve their doubts. Finally, a vote of thanks was given by Mr. Sapan Naik, Assistant Professor, DCST.

Astonish Performance by Student of 5 Years Integrated M.Sc.(IT), at "RECENT DEVELOPMENT TRENDS AND CAREER OPPORTUNITIES IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY" competition organized by Surat, on 31st December, 2014

A state level competition 'LOGIKA' was organized by Department of Computer Science, Shree Ramkrishna Institute of Computer Education & Applied Sciences, Surat on 30th December 2014, in which students from different institutes have participated. LOGIKA was a programming competition held for both UG and PG students. Platform for programming competition at UG level was C and C++ whereas for PG level 'Android App Development using Eclipse'. Among various students from all over the state, our students from 5 Years Integrated M.Sc. (IT) - 7th Semester named Bhagat Dhruv and Jadav Bhavin participated at PG level and won 2nd prize.

Enormous participation in the Wheebox competition arranged at SRIMCA, Date: 22nd September 2014

Wheebox conducted WEST-Wheebox Employability Skills Test for all the Final Year students of M.C.A, M.Sc. (CA), B.C.A & M.Sc. (IT) to publish "India Skills Report" in association with PeopleStrong and CII. The competition was arranged by the training and placement cell of Faculty of Computer Science & Technology, UTU. The advantage of WEST is that the score card can be used for multiple job opportunities and the score card is validated by the Government bodies of country. Overall 400+ students from Faculty of Computer Science & Technology participated in the Wheebox competition.

Students of Faculty of Computer Science & Technology participated in the events of 'Anantyam' 2014 with full of fun and enthusiasm. Anantyam is the annual engineer's day festival of CGPIT, UTU which has gained widespread popularity among the masses of UTU in just 1 year. True to its name-'Anant' meaning unlimited and 'yam' meaning 'happiness'-Anantyam aims to provide a festive time, not just for the fun-loving Gujju Engineers, but the whole of UTU. Different events for our IT students were Web Weaver and C-Phobic in which our students from M.C.A, M.Sc. (CA), B.C.A and M.Sc. (IT) have participated. Overall 50+ students in Web Weaver and 50+ students in C Phobic were indulged; on the whole it was a good experience where our students can explore.

It is a moment of immense pleasure that our students of T.Y M.C.A namely Mr. Nikunj Sardhara (Div D) and Mr. Shailesh Prajapati (Div C) secured 1st rank in Web Weaver event.

Campus interview organized at SRIMCA by Trimantra Software Solutions, Surat, Date: 18th Septembe 2014

Trimantra Software Solution is an IT consultancy that develops customized business software applications using top notch technologies. They are skilled in developing custom web applications software based on Facebook, Twitter, Google as well as custom enterprise application development and related IT outsourcing services. On 18th Sept 2014, it arrived for the campus placement of MCA, M.Sc. (CA) and B. Tech final year students. After Pre-placement talk, nearly 145 students appeared for technical round which included development of solution for the given business requirements. Among them 52 students developed the solution using ASP .NET technology while rest used PHP for the same. After scrutiny of first round, the company has selected 44 students from MCA and M.Sc. (CA) programme for the psychometric test followed by interview which be scheduled within couple of days.

    An Expert Session on "Big Data" was organized by SRIMCA, UTU. Mr. Jai Prakash Verma, Assistant Professor (Computer Science & Engineering Department) from Institute of Technology, Nirma University (Ahmedabad) was the speaker for the session and he is pursuing his Ph.D from Changa University. Overall 240+ students of final year of M.C.A and M.Sc. (CA) attended the session. During the session he made the students aware of the scope of Big Data, benefits of Big Data for the Enterprise, he also demonstrated features of Hadoop framework with live demonstration. The session concluded with its market values and future aspects.

    Faculty of Computer Science & Technology, UTU has celebrated Janmashtami on 18th August, 2014. Janmashtami also known as 'Krishnastami' is the birthday of Lord Krishna, the eight avatar (incarnation) of Lord Vishnu. It is a very important Hindu festival celebrated in India with clat and great enthusiasm. Dahi handi or Mosaru Kudike is also an integral part of Janmashtami celebrations. It marks the mischievous and playful behaviour of Lord Krishna. Students of SRIMCA, B. V. Patel Institute of BMC&IT and Department of Computer Science and Technology, UTU were more excited to break "DAHI HANDI". All classes have participated in DAHI HANDI with taste of DJ. The Janmashtami celebration was really an awesome experience for the students which gave them positive vibration.

  • A Session on "Use of Technology in Career Opportunities" was organized by SRIMCA, UTU, Date: 13th August 2014 more

    Session on "Use of Technology in Career Opportunities" was organized by SRIMCA for final year students of M.C.A and M.Sc. (CA). 240+ students attended the session. The talk was delivered by Mr. Mulchand Sen, Assistant Professor, SRIMCA (Department of Management) and Coordinator, Training and Placement cell, Uka Tarsadia University. Mr. Mulchand talk started with a small assignment to each student; he asked each student to mention his/her interest area and the top companies in that area. He bestowed a meticulous explanation about various technology options like computers, mobiles, social media, newspapers etc. available in recent times for searching career options. He informed the students about free and paid websites providing information about jobs particularly to freshers. He motivated the students to undergo project training in industries and participating in large numbers in campus interviews. He also counseled the students to be proactive, self-sufficient and continuously upgrade themselves to cope with cut-throat competition and dynamic business environment and make them aware of the importance of effective communication skills along with knowledge. Overall the session was very fascinating, informative and effective.

    Faculty of Computer Science and Technology organized Orientation Program 2014 for the upcoming batch of M.C.A, M.C.A (Lateral) and M.Sc. (CA).

    The "Orientation Program 2014" was arranged for two days i.e. on 31st July, 2014 and 1st August, 2014. On first day, students had a campus visit which included a walk through the library and they were also made aware of rules and regulations that have to be followed by them during their journey of studies with FCST. Mr. Kamlesh Thakkar gave a motivational talk on "Memory Development" and "Attitude towards life" he also demonstrated memory management techniques and gave a crouch on how child should behave with parents and vice-a-versa.

    The event was concluded by wishing good luck to all the new budding computer science professionals. Mr. Sandip Delwadkar Assistant Professor, SRIMCA was the coordinator for the "Orientation Program 2014".

    International level event 'CodeVita 2014' was organized by TCS on 26th July, 2014. This coding contest from Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) pit skills of programming against contestants around the globe. It is a moment of immense proud and pleasure that students of Department of Computer Science & Technology namely Mr. Thakkar Jenil K. (Integrated M.Sc. (IT) - sem 3) and Mr. Pancholi Milap C. (Integrated M.Sc. (IT) - sem 5) got a chance to participate as a team and cleared the 1st Round of the competition.

    Google Student Ambassador (GSA) program is an opportunity for students to act as liasions between Google and their respective universities. Ambassadors can learn about innovative Google products and programs, plan and host fun events on campus, act as a campus contact for Google teams and many more to add on. It is a moment of immense proud and pleasure that from Department of Computer Science & Technology 8 students of Integrated M.Sc. (IT) - sem 3 and 8 students of Integrated M.Sc. (IT) - sem 5 were shortlisted for the selection of GSA program.

    An expert session on "C Programming for Embedded Microcontroller Systems" was organized by SRIMCA, UTU. Mr. Ketan Patel form US, senior software at QuickLogic was the speaker for the session. QuickLogic is the inventor and pioneer of innovative, customizable semiconductor solutions for mobile and portable electronics OEMs and ODMs. Overall 84 students of Under Graduates and Post Graduates of different programs having competency in C and willing to build career in embedded system were incorporated in the session. During the session he had emphasized on program organization and microcontroller memory, data types, constants, microcontroller register/port address, operators, control structures, functions and interrupt routines.

  • National Level Secure Programming Competition CODE UNCODE 2014 organized by EC Council Foundation, Date: 22nd July 2014 more

    National Level Secure Programming Competition CODE UNCODE 2014 is organized by EC Council Foundation and will be conducted at SRIMCA. Code Uncode is an initiative by EC Council Foundation, the not for profit arm of EC Council, the world's largest certification body for Information Security professionals, to search for the top secure programmers in India. Code Uncode 2014 is a milestone for continuous efforts to build an army of successful programmers and thereafter a strong team of IT security professionals. Overall 483 students have registered for the competition among which students of MCA, BCA, M.Sc. (CA), and 5 years Integrated MCA are incorporated from Faculty of Computer Science & Technology, UTU. The event will be conducted in 3 parts Preliminary, Semi Finals and Finals, leading to identifying the most talented programmers in India. Preliminary round is scheduled on 28th July, 2014. We would also look forward that more number of such events occur, so that our students can grab these opportunities and get explore to the outer world.

    An Expert Session on "Embedded System & Lower Level Programming" was organized by SRIMCA, UTU. Mr. Ketan Patel form US, senior software at QuickLogic was the speaker for the session. QuickLogic is the inventor and pioneer of innovative, customizable semiconductor solutions for mobile and portable electronics OEMs and ODMs. Overall 400+ students of M.C.A, M.Sc. (IT) and M.Sc. (CA) attended the session. During the session he communal his 15 years of work experience with the students, embarked light on the recent trends of embedded system. On the top of it, he also made the students aware of IT demand all over the globe.

  • Esteemed presence of Mr. R.M. Chauhan, Executive Magistrate, Mahuva on "Orientation Program 2014" organized by Faculty of Computer Science and Technology, Date: 17th July 2014 more

    Faculty of Computer Science & Technology organized Orientation Program 2014 for the upcoming batch of 5 years Integrated MCA, 5 Years Integrated M.Sc. (IT) and BCA. Mr. R. M. Chauhan Executive Magistrate, Mahuva gave his venerated presence as an honorable chief guest for the event. Mr. R. M. Chauhan gave a squat talk to motivate the youth and inaugurated the formal function. Various dignitaries were present namely Dr. D. R. Shah Provost of Uka Tarsadia University shared words of wisdom and welcomed the new batch of computer science students. Dr. N. C. Shah Director of CGPIT, Dr. Prashant Joshi Professor and Head of Department of Management gave their esteemed presence and welcomed the youth by sharing their experiences.

    The "Orientation Program 2014" was arranged for three days i.e. from 14th July, 2014 to 16th July 2014. During these days, students had a campus visit, played different types of games, they were also made aware of rules and regulations that has to be followed during their journey of studies with FCST. Moreover, expert talk was given by Mr. Himansh Thakkar on "Self Hypnosis and Laughter Meditation" he demonstrated how to measure energy, power of subconscious mind. Mr. Kamlesh Thakkar gave a motivational talk on "Memory Development" and "Attitude towards life" he also demonstrated memory management techniques and gave a crouch on how child should behave with parents and vice-a-versa; this session was also attended by parents too. On the top of it parent's meeting was held with the program coordinators of different courses of computer science.

    The event was concluded by wishing good luck to all the new budding computer science professionals.
