Eligibility criteria for getting admission in GSID are as follows: 10+2 level of Senior School Certificate Examination (from any stream) of Central/State Board
OR
10+3 Diploma (from any stream) recognised by Central/ State Governments
OR
International Baccalaureate Diploma (any stream), after 10 years of schooling
AND
Minimum 40% marks in Aptitude Test as prescribed by the Faculty of Design, Planning & Architecture, organized by GSID, Uka Tarsadia University
After successful completion of BID, the student will become a qualified Interior Designer. As an Interior Designer, one can get a job in a Design office and can also start one's own design firm. Typically, after a design student graduates from college, he/she works with an experienced designer to gain practical experience.
Diploma courses are typically of 3 years duration, whereas degree courses are of 4 years duration. Degree courses have more theoretical depth, whereas diploma courses focus on acquiring skills.
Study at GSID has a combination of creative, skill-based (hands-on), technical, and humanities based subjects. Most of the subjects are practical in nature, where students have to interact regularly with teachers and work on evolution of given design problems. Text-book based theory based subjects are few. General inclination of course is more towards art and design, not towards engineering and commerce.
Qualified and experienced Designers, architects, artists and engineers teach at GSID. Teaching is done by Full-time, Ad-hoc and visiting faculties.

Entrance test is a process of judging the aptitude of a student. The test has questions related to Drawing skills, Logical reasoning and General Knowledge. It is necessary to receive minimum 40% marks in Aptitude test to get admission in GSID.
Yes, on the basis of Bachelor Degree in Interior Design, a student can apply for Master’s degree in design. Many courses offering Master's degree in Design (in India and Abroad) require that the student should have completed a Bachelor level programme in Design.
BID course at GSID is a full-time, four year course. Typically, there are 16 teaching weeks followed by exams and juries. Student should have regular attendance as per UTU norms. During these four years students also go to study tours which are integral to design learning. In the third year, the student also goes for professional training, which is mandatory.
The Interior Design course trains students to become Interior Designers. As interior designers, students will have limited knowledge of building structures and construction technology. They are trained to design internal spaces of buildings. The course is generally more inclined towards design and less towards engineering.
