About Library

B U Tarsadia Learning Resource Centre at Uka Tarsadia University is getaway of latest information pharmacy, computer sciences, management, engineering, Nursing, Physiotherapy, architecture, agriculture science, applied sciences etc. Being an integral part of academic and research work on the campus, Library provides information services to support the teaching, learning, research and other activities of the university by offering innovative services.

The library has a collection of books, journals, magazines both in print and digital format covering most disciplines taught and researched at the university. Library has developed collection in every possible area of interest to the campus community and those directly and indirectly associated with the each Institute.

To support the research activities, library subscribes print and e-journals, databases, e-books and others. Library has created an excellent infrastructural facility with all required software tools and technologies. Library services have been fully automated and are accessible on campus.

About Library Systems

Uka Tarsadia University Library System have B U Tarsadia Learning Resource Centre [Central Library ] comprises with seven branch libraries having collection of books, Bound volumes, Project reports, Dissertations and Print Journals and Magazines.

Administrative

The library of each institute has a Library Committee where recommendations related to procurement and library activities are made. It is chaired by the Director of the institute. At the University level, there is a Library Council chaired by the Provost, Head of Library Committee nominated by Provost General. All Policy level decisions are taken by this body.

Resource Acquisition and Access

Uka Tarsadia University Library System comprises decentralised resources acquisition and display in different libraries located on the campus.

B U Tarsadia Library automated with soul software during 2008 to 2016. After that to Lead community driven process Library adopted Open library management system by adoption of open source software KOHA [ILMS] in 2017 with objectives of maximum utilization of their available entire collection on single platform. It has a web-opac host on http://192.168.40.17 which helps the users plan their visit to the library. RFID system has been adopted and implemented by B U Tarsadia learning resource centre to provide best services to its users.

Library Members

The Library offers membership to current students, researches, faculty, staff, and old students as members. It has adopted an open access system to facilitate the users to have an easy access to the resources. Further, to cater to the various information needs of the users, the Library has, Mou with INFLIBNET Centre for shodhganga and shodhgangotri, Developing Library Network (DELNET), and also member of National Digital Library of India etc.

Arrangements

The Library is following the Open Access System, which enables the readers to go directly to the bookshelves and select the books and other sources freely. This is one of the greatest advantages that the Library offers to its users. The books are arranged in DDC Classification number/call number wise. The General Shelf Collection, and Reference Collection. New books are catalogue and displayed for 20 days for reference and reservation at the new arrival section and it will be available for circulation after the stipulated period. When a particular book is required for a user, its Call Number and Accession Number must be correctly ascertained from the database ONLINE PUBLIC ACCESS CATALOGUE (OPAC). The flow diagram of the arrangement is display on the OPAC area and also on web page.

Institutional Repository

Institutional Repository has been setup it is on primary stage and progressive mode. It has archive for collecting, preserving, and disseminating digital copies of the intellectual output Institution like theses, dissertation Project Reports etc. It has been host on http://192.168.40.18/xmlui

Library apps

For the library visitors footfall automated turn-style gate base online system has been set with in house developed apps which gives day to day record of library users. It has been host on URL : https://app.utu.ac.in/libraryviewer
