About Department

Department of Chemical Engineering was established in the year 2015. The department started with a 3 Year Diploma Program in Chemical Engineering with an objective is to prepare students for professional practice, graduate study, lifelong learning and to learn novel scientific and technological concepts used for chemical engineering practice.

Chemical Engineering at Diwaliba Polytechnic is a mixture of traditional Chemical Engineering as well as the upcoming areas of Chemical Engineering. The department has qualified faculty members engaged in teaching with the aim of achieving excellence in various fields. We aim at educating our students to discover and disseminate knowledge through research. We are committed to achieve excellence and evaluates success using the highest standards of quality, innovation, and visibility, while at the same time providing a friendly and supportive atmosphere. Our students have full access to the University's rich infrastructure and culture. Most of the courses are designed in such a fashion that there are ample scope for students to think beyond the class room teaching and learn innovative techniques to solve real life problems.

As Diwaliba Polytechnic is located in southern part of Gujarat where lots of chemical engineering companies are situated, the students get a chance to interact with local chemical companies and get connected through summer internships and regular plant visits to industries. To have practical experience, laboratories are developed. The department owns laboratories in the area of Fluid mechanics, heat transfer, mass transfer, chemistry, chemical process technology etc. For overall development of students, the department follows holistic approach that incorporates career counselling, industrial tour and professional society related exercises along with academic activities.

Features of Chemical Engineering Branch

Chemical engineering is a multi-disciplinary branch of engineering that combines natural and experimental sciences (such as chemistry and physics), along with life sciences (such as biology, microbiology and biochemistry) plus mathematics and economics to design, develop, produce, transform, transport, operate and manage the industrial processes that turn raw materials into valuable products.

Scope / Opportunities

Role of Chemical Engineer

The main role of chemical engineers is to design and troubleshoot processes for the production of chemicals, fuels, foods, pharmaceuticals, and biologicals. They are most often employed by large-scale manufacturing plants to maximize productivity and product quality while minimizing costs.

Chemical engineers work in almost every industry and affect the production of almost every article manufactured on an industrial scale. Some typical tasks include:

• Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
• Conducting research into improved manufacturing processes
• Designing and planning equipment layout
• Incorporating safety procedures for working with dangerous chemicals
• Monitoring and optimizing the performance of production processes
• Estimating production costs

Main subjects taught

Department best practices

• Department of Chemical Engineering has set up best laboratory to perform the practicals of various subject as per syllabus through which they applied their knowledge in different chemical engineering field.
• The Chemical Engineering Department has encouraged students to pursue summer internships during the vacations and acquire necessary problem solving skills. Department regularly organize industrial visit to give them practical knowledge and also organize expert lecture.
• Regular training & placement is imparted in the area of communication skill and aptitude to the students to make them employable. It is well integrated with a numbers of industries with the purpose of keeping students employed. Many of thestudents who have passed Diploma Chemical Engineering have got jobs in a different companies.
• Department aims to deliver holistic experiences to students to ensure their success not only in academics & professional careers, but also in their overall life.
• All faculty members are highly qualified with teaching and industrial experience in Chemical Engineering. One to one counselling with the students so that their problems can be heard, understood and solved.
